IW needs tough, experienced prosecutor

Over the last 24 years, Isle of Wight County was forced to endure a weak, ineffective prosecutor who skated by with plea bargain after plea bargain.  Our county became the butt of many jokes in the police and attorney community, to the point that Isle of Wight was the place to commit crime because punishment was merely a slap on the wrist.

Under Parker Councill, officers left the courtroom angry and frustrated,

because there was never any communication from him about their cases.

Officers frequently complained that they were summoned to court and never needed because of back-door plea bargains.

Where else can a woman beat a 2-year-old child to death and get sentenced to only 12 years in prison? Only in Isle of Wight.  It’s time for that to change.

Wayne Farmer is backed by all the “good ole boys,” despite the fact that

he has no experience prosecuting a single case. He’s never done anything but family law and criminal defense cases.

Jennifer Stanton is the only candidate with 20 years’ experience as a prosecutor and attorney. She’s the only candidate with experience with death penalty cases, and she is certified as a lead counsel. Jennifer also is the only candidate for commonwealth’s attorney who has tried cases in local, state and federal courts.

Vote Jennifer Stanton on Nov. 4.
