If elected mayor of Suffolk:
I will scrap the existing Finance Committee and replace it with staff and appointed citizens.
I will freeze all water and sewer bill increase for three years.
I will not maintain a mayor’s office at City Hall. I will provide a public-private office available to everyone at no cost to the city.
I will not micro-manage the affairs of the city. I will follow the law and let the city manager manage.
I will amend the City Charter to better define the duties of the mayor.
I will appoint a Council-Citizens Task Force to study the UDO.
I will amend the charter to allow for a run-off elective vote, with the formula to be determined.
I would amend council’s agenda rules to allow council members to respond to speakers’ questions after council’s comment period.
I will create a small-business incubator for start-up businesses.
4Road improvements needed for emergency exits should be paid for, in part, by cities to the east, not Suffolk taxpayers.
Note: These requests cannot be done by the mayor alone … only with the consent of the council.
