New voters can make a difference in Suffolk

I am happy to read the reports of the record number of new, young registered voters. It is refreshing to see so many youth deciding to make a difference this year.
They, along with the citizens who were already registered, are in a unique position to bring much-needed change to our local government this November.
There has been a change in one of the voting locations, and I would like to take a minute to make sure everyone knows where to cast their vote. The Betty Davis Village polling place has changed and is now located at the Faith Temple Ministry Christian Fellowship Center, 623 Brook Ave.
The other two polling places remain the same, the Suffolk Municipal Airport, located at 200 Airport Rd. and the Whaleyville Community Center, located at 6235 Whaleyville Blvd. If you have questions about where to vote, refer to your voter registration card, contact the Suffolk Voter Registrar’s office, or go to the Virginia State Board of Elections’ Web site (or call them).
It is important that you have your voter card with you on Election Day. If you have not received it, contact either of the previously mentioned sources.
This is an important election. City spending is out of control, taxes are outrageous, crime is a scourge in many of our neighborhoods and the education system needs help ensuring our kids are prepared for the future.
Please join me this November in sending a message to our city servants that the status quo is no longer acceptable. Career politicians are just that — politicians, not representatives.
I look forward to the opportunity to serve the citizens of the Whaleyville Borough and to be the voice that represents them. I ask for your support and for your vote.
