A man wanted for the armed robbery of a convenience store barricaded himself in a downtown Suffolk house for several hours Saturday when police tried to serve warrants, police said.

The Suffolk Police Department’s Critical Incident Response Team spent several hours Saturday morning trying to get the suspect out of a house in the 100 block of Grayson Court, said city spokeswoman Debbie George. The suspect, whose name was not instantly available, finally walked outside and turned himself into police around 12:30 p.m.

The man was wanted for numerous charges, including the armed robbery of an Exxon in Suffolk, and grand larceny of an auto in Portsmouth.
