A Suffolk police officer was involved in an accident while responding to a call early Saturday morning.
Just after midnight, the officer was responding, with his lights and siren activated, to a call. He was headed north on College Drive at the 164 interchange when a 1999 Mitsubishi entered the intersection. The officer struck the Mitsubishi, and the Mitsubishi then struck a pole. The driver of the Mitsubishi was transported via ambulance to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he is in stable condition. The officer was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
