On climate change: Wake up, America!

“Cool heads needed on global warming” (SNH June 28) is one of the few articles in the media to question the causes of climate change and to sound the alarm for the catastrophic impact that HR2454, the “cap-and-trade bill” will have on the American people.
First of all, man-made global warming is anything but a settled issue. Views to the contrary are systematically eliminated from public discussion and the left-wing extremists, for the most part, avoid any debates on the subject.
As Earl Pitts says “Wake up America”. Do the research. The charts I have seen show an inconsistent correlation between carbon emissions and higher temperatures.
I like clean air as much as anybody, but all of these provisions in HR2454 will only put our country at an economical disadvantage, cost millions of U.S. jobs, and result in much higher energy costs to the American people. Furthermore, it is estimated that the passage of this bill will make Al Gore an instant billionaire.
Ironically, it will have little or no impact on the will of Mother Nature.
To further elevate my concern and astonishment — am I missing something or shouldn’t our representatives and senators actually read the bills they are voting on? Per news reports, HR2454 consists of 1,300 pages, given to the representatives the day before the vote, with an additional 400 pages inserted at 4 a.m. the day of the vote.
To repeat Earl Pitts “Wake up America”. Go to the next Tea Party, write or call your congressmen and senators and demand that they represent you with intelligence and integrity.
In the past six months radical new programs and bailouts have been rammed down the throats of all Americans. Let’s not stand around with our mouths open. This has got to stop before there is little left of the country our forefathers envisioned for us.
