Three people appear to have survived a late afternoon plane crash near Deer Forest Road Monday.
According to Suffolk emergency officials, the pilot, a 68-year-old male, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. The other two passengers were not injured.
Apparently, the plane was suffering mechanical problems and attempted to make an emergency landing on the road. While attempting to land, the plane clipped nearby trees and crashed.
The emergency call for the crash, which was near the 4400 block of Deer Forest Road, was received just before 5 p.m.
