Classes resume after bomb threat

Nansemond River High School have returned to their classes, and police and fire officials have left the school after spending much of the morning dealing with a bomb threat.

Students returned to classes at about 11:16 a.m., after having been allowed to return re-enter the school and proceed to assigned areas at 9:51 a.m., about an hour after they were evacuated as a result of a bomb threat.

Shortly before 9 a.m. the staff at Florence Bowser Elementary School received a phoned-in bomb threat for Nansemond River High School.

The building was evacuated, and officials from Suffolk Police, Suffolk Fire & Rescue and the Fire Marshall’s Office responded to the scene.

The Fire Marhsall’s office is investigating the threat.
