The victim of an early-morning shooting on Friday was in stable condition at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, and police continued their investigation into the incident.
Brian Phil Jones, 20, was hit four times in the lower abdomen, lower extremities and rear when he was shot following an argument outside the Red Apple Restaurant on Carolina Road.
He left the scene in a vehicle, which was later found crashed in a ditch. He was driven by ambulance to the hospital in Norfolk.
Police have taken Denzel Mack into custody and consider him a suspect, according to Suffolk spokesperson Diana Klink. No charges had been filed by 2 p.m., however.
Klink said in a press release that Mack had been involved in the altercation with Jones that precipitated the shooting.
