Have some thoughts about Suffolk Public Schools?

Superintendent Milton Liverman wants to hear them.

This year, the school system is looking for more volunteers to serve in the division’s Key Communicator Network, which gives the superintendent feedback about the schools and their operations.

Suffolk Public Schools Public Information Officer Bethanne Bradshaw said volunteers agree to receive monthly email messages from Liverman and to contact the superintendent with any questions, opinions or news from themselves, peers or associates.

“Basically, they help SPS have a strong two-way communication program with the community we serve,” Bradshaw stated in an email.

During the past year, the Key Communicator Network has given input on topics such as how to improve parent involvement, what school division facilities should be included in the next 10-year Capital Improvement Plan, what should customer service look like in the school system and how the system can increase its efficiency.

The division is looking for a wide variety of people to serve in the network to give it a fuller comprehension of the community’s needs and desires.

Bradshaw said no experience is needed; volunteers must have “simply a desire to learn, listen, think and share.”
