A single-vehicle accident Friday morning on Route 58 about a mile east of the scales injured one person and tied up westbound traffic for several hours.
The driver of a box-type truck owned by Hot & Cold Plumbing Supplies out of Chesapeake suffered unknown injuries, Suffolk spokesperson Debbie George said in a press release. The driver was transported to a hospital.
The accident took place at 7:30 a.m. Friday when the driver ran off the road and into a tree in the median.
The two westbound lanes of Route 58 were closed for some time, but one lane had been reopened by 10 a.m., as emergency crews worked to clean up the scene of the accident.
