Nansemond River High School was evacuated for about 30 minutes Thursday morning because of a fire in a girls’ restroom.
The fire was limited to a trashcan, according to Suffolk spokesperson Debbie George, who said investigators from the Fire Marshal’s office were on the scene at about 1 p.m. to determine the cause.
The school was evacuated after the fire was reported to the main office by a teacher at 10:38 a.m. There were no injuries.
Anyone with information about the fire is being asked to contact Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-U-Up. Crime Line callers do not have to give their names or appear in court. If a caller’s information leads to an arrest, the caller can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
