Power restored after outage

Power customers along major Suffolk business and residential corridors spent a portion of Friday morning in the dark.
A wide-spread power outage hit the east Suffolk area along Routes 460, 10 and U.S. 58, the result of a reported problem with a transmission line. Power was restored just before 10 a.m.
Suffolk city officials reported emergency communications were “inundated with calls for burglar alarms, traffic light outages” and other power-related problems. In a morning release, the city asked for citizens to not use the 911 system to report the outages.
The outage affected businesses, homes and schools along those three corridors.
