Council’s school decisions don’t make sense
To the editor:
The Suffolk City Council dropped the ball several months ago by not approving the proposed building site for a grammar school in the southern part of the city.
The site selected by the School Board would have construction going on by now. But the council now wants to start all over again with site selection for one site to replace Southwestern and Robertson Elementary schools.
I would like to see a new, smaller school in Holland and one in Whaleyville. The idea of one, 800-pupil school for first through fifth grades seems a bit overwhelming to me.
