The Building Faith conference at Tabernacle Christian Church next week will combine inspirational speaking, worship and more — all centered on faith.

“God has been faithful to us because we have been faithful to Him,” said the Rev. Carlton R. Upton Jr., pastor at Tabernacle Christian. “The Bible tells us that we walk by faith, not by sight.”

The conference will be held April 5-7 at 7 p.m. nightly at the church, 2500 E. Washington St. The speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Charles Jackson Sr., of Columbia, S.C. It is open to the community.

“It’s a time of celebration,” Upton said. “We’ve come through a lot of crisis and this is why we’re doing this faith conference.”

The theme of the conference — “Faith that Links Us to God” — illustrates that “our walk must be a walk of faith,” Upton said. “You have to love the lord, love the work of the Lord, got to love his church and got to love his people.”

Upton called Jackson a “dynamic preacher.”

“He has a great ministry down in South Carolina,” Upton said.
