‘Praying for the Lost’

The Baptist Sunday School and Baptist Training Union Congress of Virginia includes several Suffolk churches. They will participate in a conference in Lynchburg later this month.

The Baptist Sunday School and Baptist Training Union Congress of Virginia is planning its 2011 session at Liberty University in Lynchburg July 25-29. Several Suffolk churches participate in the conference led by the 109-year-old organization.

Minister Barbara P. Butler, president of The Baptist Sunday School and Baptist Training Union Congress of Virginia, has selected “When You Pray, Believe” for this year’s theme, taken from the text in Mark 11:24. Each year the Congress endeavors to teach and expound upon a major doctrine. The doctrine of this year’s session is prayer with an intentional focus on praying for the lost.

Classes at the conference begin as early as 6:30 a.m. and end as late as 10:30 p.m. nightly throughout the week of July 25-29. Here are some of the lesson topics to be featured for the week:

Children: “What Does the Bible Say About Everyday Situations?”

Youth: “God Guy and God Girl — What Makes You Different?”

“You Are Not Alone — See Your Struggle Through God’s Eyes”

Young Adults: “Gifted and Called — You Were Born For A Reason”

“What is Your Kingdom Assignment?”

Adults: “Training for Service: A Survey of the Bible”

“The Man I Want to Be”
