One killed in Carolina Road crash

This crash on Carolina Road Wednesday morning killed one and sent three people to the hospital.

Police have identified the drivers involved in a fatal accident Wednesday morning on Carolina Road.

Christopher Michael Fitzwater, 28, of the 4000 block of Adams Swamp Road in Suffolk, was killed in the accident, which occurred in the 3100 block of Carolina Road at 7:59 a.m.

His passenger, Alexander Edick, 23, of the 100 block of Sunset Manor in Suffolk, is listed in critical condition at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital after being flown there by Nightingale.

Two other drivers involved in the wreck — Willie Lee Riddick, 50, of Sunbury, N.C., and James Barry Armstrong, 40 — were treated at Sentara Obici Hospital for injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

The crash involved a tractor-trailer, a pickup truck and a passenger vehicle, according to Klink. The road was closed until about 6 p.m. while crews continued investigating the cause of the accident, she added.

Traffic was detoured along Cypress Chapel Road and Babbtown Road.
