‘Taste’ deadline extended

The deadline to apply for a permit to be a vendor during the 2012 Taste of Suffolk event has been extended to Aug. 20, officials announced on Wednesday, adding that crafters, commercial vendors, political candidates, churches and non-profit organizations are all invited and encouraged to apply.

The fee is $50 per 10-foot-by-10-foot space. Applicants will need to bring their own tents (pop-up/tailgate style), tables and chairs. Visit www.suffolkva.us/TasteofSuffolk and scroll to the bottom of the page for an application.

The Taste of Suffolk Downtown Street Festival is scheduled for Sept. 8, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., along North Main Street. There will be food, contests, live music, kids’ activities and games, crafters and vendors, and more. The festival is free and open to the public.
