In honor of the recent visit of a delegation from Suffolk’s sister city, Oderzo, Italy, and in conjunction with the Suffolk Art League, Rosa’s Coffee Cantina on North Main Street is displaying a group of Stuart Kerner photographs that were taken during his travels through Italy.
The installation is part of the promotion, “heART and Soul of Downtown Suffolk, a walkable arts destination,” which works to promote the arts in downtown Suffolk, where several restaurants have begun to exhibit the work of local and regional artists on their walls, according to Linda Bunch, executive director of the Suffolk Art League.
Kerner studied at the Parson’s School of Design and worked for many years as art director and graphic designer for a Manhattan advertising agency. He moved to Suffolk in 2003 and began exhibiting his photographs in 2006. His real-life images often have a semi-abstract feeling to them, which reflects his eye for humor.
The heART and Soul of Downtown Suffolk initiative has been made possible, in part, through funding from the Virginia Commission for the Arts and Virginia Tourism Corp.
