Staff members at Cut N’ Shears Unisex Barber and Beauty Salon recently teamed up with the Suffolk Police Department and the Suffolk Department of Social Services to provide free back-to-school haircuts to 60 Suffolk youth.

The Suffolk Police Department, Suffolk Department of Social Services Child Protective Services, and the Cut N’ Shears Unisex Barber and Beauty Salon joined together to provide free back-to-school haircuts for 60 under-privileged children Sept. 2 and 3.

The Cut N’ Shears shop, located in the Freedom Plaza Shopping Center in the 100 block of Burnetts Way, is normally closed on Sundays and Mondays but opened its doors for this special event.

“We’re a new business, and we want to do everything we can to support our community,” said LiGerald Jones, Vice President of Cut N’ Shears. “We were thrilled when we were approached by the Suffolk Police Department with this idea. Our company truly believes in giving back to others, and that we can make a change, one haircut at a time.”

Cut N’ Shears also provided a free breakfast for the youth on the mornings of the haircuts.

The North Main Street Walmart contributed a $100 gift card used to provide school supplies for the children.
