Judy Raymond, executive director of Lake Prince Woods retirement community, has been recognized for 25 years as a certified therapeutic recreation specialist.
Raymond began her professional career working with senior adults in residential Alzheimer’s facilities in California.
“I’ve always had an affinity for working with seniors,” she explained. “I first worked in an activities department in a nursing home at the suggestion of my mother, because she noticed how much I liked being with my grandparents.”
Following her years in California, Raymond was administrator at The Ballentine Home in Norfolk and later became vice president of resident and health services at Westminster-Canterbury in Virginia Beach. She joined Lake Prince Woods as executive director in 2010.
The National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification grants professional recognition to individuals who apply and meet established standards for certification, including education, experience, and continuing professional development.
The Certified Thera-peutic Recreation Spec-ialist certification is offered to qualified individuals based on these stringent requirements.
Lake Prince Woods is a nonprofit residential retirement community offering an array of lifestyle choices. The community is nestled among 172 acres bordering Lake Prince.
