Player of the Week nominations announces

Following are this week’s Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week nominees:
- Khadedra Croker, junior center for King’s Fork basketball — She opened the season against Deep Creek with a triple-double, registering 17 points, 14 rebounds and 15 blocks. She also had 18 points, 12 rebounds and eight blocks in the second game of the week against Nansemond River.
- Devon Oakley, junior guard for Nansemond River basketball — Before a capacity crowd in his second varsity start, he led his team with 19 points and also had five rebounds, four assists, six steals, and three blocks in the win against King’s Fork. Against Grassfield, he had 11 points, five steals and four assists, despite being hampered by foul trouble.
- Deonta Knight, freshman forward for Lakeland basketball — He had 15 points, 11 rebounds and eight steals in the season opener against Hickory, posted a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds against Deep Creek and led the team with 16 points against Hertford County.
