TransAuthority Inc. has purchased Suffolk International Truck & Equipment Sales Inc.
The sale, which was effective Dec. 31, makes Suffolk International the newest branch of the TransAuthority group. According to a company press release, Everette Scott will continue in his role as manager of the new Suffolk Branch, and the existing support team was expected to remain in place.
During the coming months TransAuthority plans to expand the Suffolk branch’s offerings by adding other product lines that are currently available under the company’s umbrella. Founded in 1981, TransAuthority provides transportation-related products and services for Class 4 to Class 8 truck customers throughout central and eastern Virginia, with locations in Ashland, Chester and Fredericksburg.
The company also offers full-service leasing, commercial rentals and contract maintenance through its affiliates TransAuthority Idealease LLC in Richmond and TransAuthority Idealease-Tidewater LLC in Norfolk.
The company offers new and used truck sales, a full range of parts and services, along with a full collision and frame shop.
In the company’s release, Tom Thayer, TransAuthority president and CEO, described the sale as “a very exciting acquisition, which will strengthen our customer support in the central and eastern parts of Virginia.”
