Mount Olive College’s Jermaine Berry has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Baseball Player of the Week for Week Four of the 2012-2013 baseball season.
Berry helped Mount Olive move back up to No. 1 in the Collegiate Baseball Top 30 Poll by batting .471 (8-for-17) with 10 RBIs during the Trojans’ 5-0 week, including 4-0 in Conference Carolinas play. Berry drove in three runs in the Trojans’ series clincher against North Greenville, including a two-run double during a game-breaking 10-run sixth inning to lead to a 22-5 victory.
In Mount Olive’s series-opening 6-2 win at then-No. 18 Belmont Abbey, Berry singled home the first run of the game in the first inning, and then drove in a run and scored a run in a three-run fifth inning.
Berry scored a run in the Trojans’ 7-4 win in Game Two, and his two-run single in the first inning of Game Three helped Mount Olive build a 10-run lead in the first three innings of a 14-4 victory to complete the series sweep.
Berry also drove in two runs, walked twice and stole two bases in a 14-3 non-conference win over Saint Augustine’s.
