The Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of a fire in the 100 block of Evergreen Drive in the Chuckatuck area early Sunday morning.

Several callers reported the fire about 1 a.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy flames coming from the garage, threatening the home and the neighbor’s garage.

The garage and the vehicle inside were a total loss, but firefighters managed to keep the fire from seriously damaging the house. No injuries were reported.

Engines 9 and 6, Rescue 6, Battalion 2 and Medic 9A responded to the fire. The family was able to stay in the home.
