Another candidate has stepped into the race for sheriff of the city of Suffolk.

C. Aaron Johnson grew up in Newport News and moved to Suffolk about five years ago. He has worked 13 years in law enforcement, including 10 years with the Newport News Sheriff’s Office.

He is facing current Sheriff Raleigh Isaacs Sr., who is approaching his 20th year in office, and another challenger, Jennifer Pond, a former Suffolk police officer and current deputy sheriff in the Portsmouth Sheriff’s Office.
