Sport Clips Haircuts, a nationally franchised hair salon that markets itself as a place where men can get groomed and pampered in an environment geared toward them, has opened a store in Suffolk.

The Suffolk store, located at 1217 N. Main St., adds to the more than 1,000 Sport Clips across the country, company officials stated in a press release.

Kimmerick Vick of Chesapeake, owner of the new business, said in the press release that he plans to open additional locations in the area during the next year. The company’s focus on making men feel comfortable should make it popular, he stated.

“What’s better than being in a relaxing environment, where sports are on TV everywhere you look, with well-trained stylists and no need for an appointment when it’s time for a haircut?” he stated.

Sport Clips offers clients:

  • The MVP Experience, which includes a precision haircut, massaging shampoo, steamed towel treatment, and neck and shoulder massage;
  • Stylists who specialize in male hair care;
  • Haircut services without an appointment;
  • Large, flat-screen televisions playing sports programming at each haircut station and in the lobby;
  • Special lighting and massaging chairs in the shampoo area to promote relaxation;
  • And male-focused hair care and styling products.

Vick said he looks forward to supporting the community by partnering with the YMCA, high schools and local sports teams.
