Player of the Week nominees

Following are this week’s Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week nominees:
- Davon Grayson, senior for King’s Fork High School track and field — He won the Eastern Region outdoor track and field championship in the long jump with a state-qualifying leap of 23’9.75” and also placed third in the high jump with a height of 6’5”, which also qualifies for state.
- Zakiya Rashid, sophomore for Nansemond River High School track and field — She won the discus throw at the Eastern Region outdoor track and field championships, unleashing a 134’10” state-qualifying mark that shattered her 128’ personal record.
- Candice James, Kara Lyles, Kieaira Middleton and Brandee Johnson of the Nansemond River 4×400-meter relay team — The team produced a winning time of 3:58.13 that was over four seconds faster than the nearest competition at the Eastern Region outdoor track and field championships on Saturday at Todd Stadium in Newport News.
