Lake Prince Woods retirement community recently added two new members to its advisory council. Rick Matthews and Nancy Bland joined the group in October.
Matthews is district vice president of the YMCA of South Hampton Roads, and Bland is church secretary at Windsor Congregational Christian Church.
“We’re very happy to have Rick and Nancy as members of our advisory council,” Lake Prince Woods Executive Director Judy Raymond said. “We have a great working relationship with the YMCA in using their facilities for some of our resident activities, and in turn, their Active Older Adult group has come to Lake Prince for events. Windsor Christian Church has been a supporter of our UCHS Foundation for more than 20 years, and we’re deeply appreciative of their commitment.”
The advisory council meets every other month and works closely with the executive director in providing feedback from the larger community, giving guidance on marketing and strategic initiatives, and serving as community advocates.
Serving as Advisory Council chair is Dr. Ralph Howell. Members are Susan Story, Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia; Harry Cross, Cross Realty; Linda Mathias, retired; Michelle Horton, Nansemond-Suffolk Academy; Rev. Buzz Ballard, retired; Joe Barlow, retired; Phyllis Stoneburner, vice president of patient care services at Sentara Obici Hospital; Mark Walker, architect; John Pinner, Chorey Realty; and Al Nash, LPW Resident Association president.
