Northern Star Credit Union has made a $3,000 corporate contribution to the H.E.R. Shelter’s Annual Silent Nights campaign fund.
This is the 10th year Northern Star has supported the shelter, which uses the funds to provide Christmas dinners and presents for its residents, in addition to supporting Hampton Roads victims of domestic violence.
“Since Northern Star Credit Union began supporting us over a decade ago, their contributions have directly helped 184 women and children receive a full Christmas, including presents for each child and the holiday meal to accompany,” said Beth Cross, executive director of the H.E.R. Shelter. “In addition, over 230 children have received new shoes at Christmas, a basic need that often goes unnoticed while in shelter.”
The H.E.R. Shelter is a private, non-profit agency, certified by the United Way of South Hampton Roads, which helps between 600 and 800 women and children each year who are victims of domestic violence.
