‘Shocked’ at military pension cuts

To the editor:
As the wife of a military retiree, I am in complete shock at the recently passed budget agreement in the U.S. Senate, which, as described by Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., will cut military pensions, instead of cutting welfare for illegal immigrants.
I cannot believe that the men and women who give their lives fighting for us daily are getting the shaft. How can the powers that be sleep at night?
They claim the cuts to military pensions will save $6.3 billion over a decade, but in the meantime the IRS paid $4.2 billion in child care benefits checks to undocumented immigrants in 2010.
I think that the powers that be should be subjected to the same benefits, cuts and extra taxes that “we the people” are subjected to. There should be no guaranteed retirement after two yrs, no special medical insurance, no benefits at all.
If the lawmakers were subjected to every change that they impose on us, they might think twice before stabbing us in the backs.
