Dr. Jeff Persons will be the featured speaker at a program at Lake Prince Woods retirement community at 6:30 p.m. March 6.

Persons, an orthopedic surgeon, will talk about the various types of arthritis and different treatment options available. Sometimes therapy helps, sometimes medications are useful, sometimes injections can be used, but for many people joint replacement is the answer.

Registered nurse Tracey Stallard will explain the benefits of Sentara Obici’s Ortho Joint Center model, which offers a pre-operative workshop and individual contact with the ortho joint patient navigator.

Sandra Duke will highlight Lake Prince Woods’ rehab department, which focuses on maximizing function and independence following joint replacement surgery.
