Kelly Gillerlain, a Realtor in the Harbour View office of Rose and Womble Realty Co., has received her doctorate in organizational leadership from Regent University.
Gillerlain is not only a real estate agent but also a professor at Tidewater Community College in Chesapeake, teaching classes in business including management, marketing and various other courses.
Gillerlain believes remaining an active real estate agent helps her students in the classroom.
“I’m able to bring in real-world examples for my students. My real estate career is a way for me to stand out from my educational peers, because while many of them just live in an academic world, I see the real-world applications of the theories and lessons I go over,” Gillerlain said.
Gillerlain began her career in real estate to help bear the load in her husband Jimmy’s office. Once he was promoted to managing broker, she became a referral agent but saw the benefits of remaining active.
