NRHS boys’ soccer advances past Wilson

The Nansemond River High School boys’ soccer team used its first-ever regional playoff appearance to top host Woodrow Wilson High School 4-2 on Monday.
With one minute left in the first half, Warriors senior goalkeeper Dustin Telles stopped a point blank shot from Conference 17 Player of the Year Travis Brown. The Warriors quickly responded with a goal from senior Chad Kozoyed to grab a 2-0 lead and the momentum going into the second half.
Sophomore Axel Lopez scored twice in the game for NR, and sophomore Brayan Morales had one goal and one assist. Senior Gabe Everette and sophomore Daniel Brickhouse contributed one assist apiece.
Nansemond River (12-5) visits Grafton High School today, playing for the right both to compete in the state tournament and advance to the regional championship game on Friday.
