A long-vacant North Suffolk commercial property, on Bridge Road near the College Drive corner, will become storage space for new vehicles, Hall Automotive Chief Executive Officer Bill Baker says.

About an acre in size, 4796 Bridge Road has been purchased by a real estate entity connected to Hall, Baker said. The dealership already has begun moving vehicles there.

The former Troy Marine site is a short distance from Hall’s Chevrolet, Nissan and Hyundai dealerships on Western Branch Boulevard. But Baker said there are no plans for a new dealership.

“We just purchased it for storage,” he said. “We don’t have any grander plans.”

The property is next door to the future new First Team Subaru. First Team Automotive Group plans to invest $6.5 million to bring a 180-vehicle dealership to 4834 Bridge Road by the spring.

Baker said that new dealership, with its illumination and activity, would hopefully deter thieves from targeting Hall’s future storage property, which currently is a distance away from other commercial developments.

The risk is thieves detaching and stealing pieces from the new vehicles that would be stored there, Baker added.

“We are going to add some lights for security purposes,” he said. “That’s for everybody’s benefit. We’ll get right on that.”

Baker estimated there’s space for about 100 vehicles. “It’s not a real big piece of property.”

Jones Lang LaSalle associate Landon Hinton, representing the seller, said the property sold for $600,000.
