Player of the Week nominees

Following are this week’s nominees for the Duke Automotive-Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:

  • Sabre Clegg, junior for Nansemond River High School basketball: She was a force near the basket last week as she has been previously this season, helping fuel her team’s success. In Friday’s 69-49 conference win against host Denbigh High School, she registered a key double-double with 15 points and 17 rebounds.
  • Keith Stagg, junior for King’s Fork High School basketball: He continued his leadership for the Bulldogs with strong numbers in consecutive conference wins. In Friday’s 63-58 road win over Lakeland High School, he had a game-high 20 points to go with nine rebounds, three assists and three steals. In Tuesday’s 54-53 road win over Denbigh High School, he contributed a team-high 18 points.
  • C.J. Patterson, senior for Nansemond-Suffolk Academy basketball: He turned in back-to-back performances with monster numbers this past week to help give his team a postseason berth. In Thursday’s 62-53 road win over Norfolk Christian School, he produced 27 points and 19 rebounds. In Tuesday’s 48-39 road win over Peninsula Catholic High School, he had 18 points and 18 boards.
