Player of the Week nominees

Following are this week’s nominees for the Duke Automotive-Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:
- Cydney Nichols, sophomore for King’s Fork High School basketball: She helped the Lady Bulldogs repeat as Ironclad Conference tournament champions on Monday by contributing a team-high 12 points and adding five steals to a 46-33 victory over visiting Heritage High School. Despite a heartbreaking 63-62 opening-round regional loss on Tuesday to visiting Midlothian High School, she still showed how dangerous she can be with the ball, scoring 18 points.
- Keith Stagg, junior for King’s Fork High School basketball: He helped lead the Bulldogs to a state tournament berth, as well as their first trip to the regional title game since 2009. In Tuesday’s 64-62 first-round regional win against visiting Caroline High School, he had a game-high 22 points, to go with eight rebounds, five assists and three steals. In Friday’s 75-71 overtime semifinal win against visiting Lake Taylor High School, he had 16 points and eight boards.
