Off-Road Day planned for Saturday at Starr

Starr Motors’ eighth annual Off-Road Day in support of Relay For Life will take place Saturday at 2584 Pruden Blvd.
“This year, our theme is about cancer awareness and screening, prevention and awareness,” said Joe Bonney, service manager at Starr Motors. “You never know that you have it until you’ve been tested, so what can you do to catch it in its earlier stages?”
Folks can register for the truck and Jeep show, which will last from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., with judging at noon. All makes are welcome.
The off-road trail, with a number of obstacles designed for ultimate fun, will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except for 12:30-1 p.m., when it will close for lunch.
The entry fee is $15 for the show, $25 for the trail or $30 for both. Credit cards are accepted.
Entry is free for spectators, and concessions and drinks will be available for purchase.
“We don’t sell it at carnival prices,” Bonney said. “It’s always reasonably priced.”
A prize auction will begin at 2:30 p.m., with about $10,000 worth of donated prizes up for grabs, Bonney said. Winners must be present.
Multiple vendors also will be on site, Bonney said, as well as cancer screening information.
The fire department also will be on hand with fire trucks for kids to see up close, Bonney said. A DJ will provide entertainment.
“It’s just another way to give back,” Bonney said. “We’re all excited for the event this year.”
