YMCAs across Virginia, including the Suffolk Family Y, have joined together to offer reciprocal membership through the “My Y is Every Y” program.

The program, which began July 1, allows members to access more than 80 YMCAs throughout Virginia at no charge when they present a valid YMCA identification card.

“Our members count on the Y for their health and wellness needs,” said Billy George, president and chief executive officer of the YMCA of South Hampton Roads.

“Now they’ll be able to take advantage of what Ys across the state have to offer. We’re very excited to be able to bring this added benefit to members. We look forward to welcoming members from other Ys as we all stand together to strengthen our communities.”

Through “My Y is Every Y,” full facility/full privilege members have access rights at YMCAs throughout Virginia. Members should bring their YMCA ID card and a photo ID to check into a partner Y.

Some restrictions may apply depending on the YMCA, so members are encouraged to check with the Y they plan to visit ahead of time to learn the specifics.

“The program is a growing trend across the YMCA movement, so we’re pleased to be able to expand these benefits to members here in Virginia,” said Lisa Drouin, resource director for YMCA of the USA. “No matter where our members travel across Virginia, they’ll be able to stay connected to the local community and improve their health and well-being.”
