A home on Wyanoke Trail was declared a total loss after a fire on Monday afternoon.

The blaze was reported at 12:37 p.m. Heavy flames were showing from both stories of the home when firefighters arrived, according to a city press release.

The home in the 10000 block is near the Blackwater River and Southampton County line.

No one was at home at the time the fire occurred. Two adults and four children were displaced as a result of the fire and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

One firefighter was treated at the scene for injuries not considered life-threatening and taken to Sentara Obici Hospital for further treatment.

Carrsville and Hunterdale volunteer fire departments assisted Suffolk units in battling the blaze.

The fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause, according to the press release.
