Community Electric wins awards

Community Electric Cooperative was recently awarded the ACRE Achievement Certificate by the Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives.

ACRE, the Action Committee for Rural Electrification, raises money and provides support to legislators who support electric cooperatives and their members. Community Electric’s 2015 ACRE achievements included 100-percent board participation, and 100-percent co-op management participation.

Community was also presented with the ACRE Cup for the best overall ACRE campaign among the 15 VMDAEC member cooperatives.

VMDAEC provides safety training, director and employee classes, and legislative and regulatory services for its 15 member cooperatives in Virginia, Maryland and Delaware, and publishes Cooperative Living magazine for 12 Virginia electric cooperatives, including Community.

Headquartered in Windsor, Community Electric Cooperative is a not-for-profit member-owned energy provider that serves nearly 11,000 homes, farms and businesses in the counties of Isle of Wight, Southampton, Surry, and Sussex and the City of Suffolk.
