After a weekend of sledding and building snowmen, it’s back to work Tuesday for thousands of Suffolk Public School students.

Suffolk was pounded by three to six inches of snow, sleet and rain on Friday and Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. Suffolk canceled classes on both Friday and Monday, because some of the city’s secondary roads remained icy.

The two-day closing is also delaying midterm exams for the city’s middle and high school students, according to the school division’s website. The tests were originally slated for Jan. 26-29.
