Dollar Tree opens

Employees of the new Dollar Tree store on Centerbrooke Lane get help cutting the ribbon from Vice Mayor Leroy Bennett and Councilman Roger Fawcett on Saturday.
A new Dollar Tree store held its grand opening and ribbon cutting last week.
The store, located at 1027 Centerbrooke Lane, held family-friendly activities for the public following the event.
The 9,000-square-foot store represents a $1.2-million investment, according to a city press release. It will offer the general merchandise, seasonal goods and everyday necessities for which the stores are known, with nothing priced at more than $1. The store will be open seven days a week.
The Fortune 500 company is headquartered in Hampton Roads and operates more than 14,000 stores in the United States and Canada under the brands of Dollar Tree, Family Dollar and Dollar Tree Canada.
