Colon cancer run raises funds

Bon Secours Hampton Roads has announced that the 2016 Bon Secours Colon Cancer Awareness 5K raised more than $27,000 to help local colon cancer patients.
The sixth annual Bon Secours Colon Cancer Awareness 5K and 1-Mile Fun Walk was held April 2 in North Suffolk, with 419 racers registered for the 5K and 71 registered for the Fun Walk.
Proceeds are donated to the Bon Secours Maryview Foundation Cancer Fund to provide care for colon cancer patients.
Sponsors for the event included TowneBank, Gastrointestinal & Liver Specialists of Tidewater, the Suffolk News-Herald, Meridian Harbourview, Virginia Gastroenterology Institute, Goodove Oral Surgery & Dental Implants, Gastroenterology Associates of Tidewater, Virginia Oncology Institute, Believer’s Church, Taylor Orthodontics and Chick-fil-A.
