King’s Fork High School’s boys’ basketball team picked up an overtime win against Deep Creek High School on Thursday night.
King’s Fork hosted Deep Creek for what turned out to be a 73-70 win for the Bulldogs.
After losing to Churchland at the buzzer Tuesday, the Bulldogs were able to bounce back Thursday to avoid an 0-2 week. King’s Fork’s win gave the school a sweep of Deep Creek for the season.
“We played hard; I love the team’s effort,” Bulldogs coach Josh Worrell said. “Sometimes, some of the decisions we made put us in tougher positions, but I knew we would play hard. We haven’t lost back-to-back games all season, which is good.”
James Hatton had 19 points Thursday to lead the Bulldogs.
The win secured the No. 2 seed for the Bulldogs in the Conference 17 tournament, which starts next weekend. Last week, Worrell said his team is getting into the final stretch of its schedule, and he hopes the team can continue to improve.
“Now it is win or go home,” Worrell said. “I think we have been playing hard, but we can always find better ways to get the job done. As long as we keep competing and doing a better job focusing, we will always be in games.”
The Bulldogs will wrap up the regular season on the road against Lake Taylor at 7:15 p.m. Monday, the last game of their regular season.
“We just want to play hard and give ourselves the opportunity to win,” Worrell said. “I want a good effort out of them Monday, and then we’ll focus on the postseason.”
