King’s Fork High School’s softball team defeated Deep Creek High School Friday night to secure a regional bid.
The Lady Bulldogs defeated Deep Creek High School for the second time this season with the 9-0 win in the Conference 17 tournament semifinals.
Sophomore Isabella Gay had a good game for the Lady Bulldogs, going 3-of-4 with two RBIs and one run.
Because of the rain all week, the Lady Bulldogs weren’t able to practice like they wanted to. They came out and had four runs in the first three innings. Freshman pitcher Cali Hinnant threw a two-hitter to go along with 10 strikeouts. As a team, King’s Fork collected nine hits.
“It was a well-played game,” Lady Bulldogs coach Richard Froemel said. “We are confident in our abilities, but we know from here on out it will be one and done.”
King’s Fork will go on the road Monday to take on Smithfield High School in the first round of the 4A East regional tournament. The Lady Bulldogs have gone a couple of seasons without postseason play, and they are happy to be back.
