Player of the Week nominees

Following are this week’s nominees for the Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:

  • Justin German, senior, King’s Fork High School: German threw for 270 yards and five touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ 70-7 win over Jamestown High School in the first round of the Region 4A playoffs.
  • Gerard Stringer, senior, Nansemond River High School football: Stringer had two touchdown runs in the Warriors’ home 5A playoff win over Princess Anne High School.
  • Damonta Hawkins, junior, Lakeland High School football: Hawkins caught a 66-yard touchdown in the final seconds of regulation to force overtime against I.C. Norcom High School. The Cavs won 10-7 in overtime.
  • Ryan Horton, junior, Nansemond-Suffolk Academy volleyball: Horton had a career-high 50 assists in the Lady Saints win over Fredericksburg Christian School.
