The Warriors boys’ basketball team got its first win of the season over Great Bridge High School on Friday.
It was a relief for the Warriors after starting off 0-4. They didn’t play their best basketball on the road but were able to come out with a win. They turned over the ball 20 times as a team. However, Great Bridge turned it over 23 times.
“It is always good to get a win no matter how you get it,” Warriors coach Ed Young said. “You feel good about the guys being able to overcome a sloppy game and get the win.”
Justin Fatherly led the Warriors with 20 points, and Jeremiah Lewis added 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Nansemond River will play three games in four days this week, starting with Western Branch High School on the road at 7 p.m. Monday.
