Following are this week’s nominees for the Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:

Lonnie Cox, junior, King’s Fork High School soccer: Cox scored four goals in the Lady Bulldogs’ win over Windsor High School.

Sydney Adcock, freshman, Nansemond River High School softball: Adcock made key hits and played a key role in the Lady Warriors’ 3-0 week.

Heidi Layne, freshman, Suffolk Christian Academy softball: Layne earned a pitching win against Ridgecroft School. She struck out seven and allowed two runs.

Sara Matthews, senior, Lakeland High School softball: Matthews struck out 10 and allowed one hit in the Lady Cavs’ win over I.C. Norcom High School.
