Barrett has been with CEC for one year as the manager of accounting.

“Jennie has done an outstanding job in her role as manager of accounting,” said Steve Harmon, chief executive officer and president of Community Electric Cooperative. “She has developed relationships with our vendors and operations leadership and has helped expand a team of talented professionals with expertise to lead an accounting and finance department.”

After 20 years of working in public accounting and raising three children in Cary, N.C., Barrett and her husband moved back to the area and established residency in the cooperative service territory as a CEC member. Barrett’s family ties with the Cooperative date back to 1954, when her father began serving as the attorney for Community Electric Cooperative.

“The Cooperative has been a refreshing change. It is a great place to work, and I look forward to my future on the CEC team,” Barrett said.

“Please join us as we congratulate Jennie,” Harmon said. “We have the utmost confidence in her to carry us into the future as we continue to meet and exceed the expectations of our members.”

Barrett is licensed as a CPA in Virginia and North Carolina. She graduated with a major in accounting from the University of Richmond in Virginia and is part of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants and the National Society of Accountants for Cooperatives.

Community Electric Cooperative, headquartered in Windsor, is a not-for-profit, member-owned energy provider that serves more than 11,000 homes, farms and businesses in the counties of Isle of Wight, Southampton, Surry, and Sussex and the city of Suffolk. For more information, go to www.comelec.coop.
